After the build

What this project taught us

The retrospective we run after every project — what we’d do the same way again, and what we’d tell another homeowner considering the same scope.

  • What We Learned

Premium materials like Calacatta Gold marble demand cabinet, tile, and lighting alignment within 1/16". Locking the layout and stone slabs before demo is the only way to hit that standard.

  • Planning Decisions That Saved Time

Selecting the Thermador package and J&K cabinetry early let us order long-lead items in week one. By framing day, everything was on site or scheduled — no waiting.

  • Design Choices That Made the Biggest Difference

The oversized island for prep + seating, the dedicated pantry / oven wall, and layered lighting (recessed + pendant + task) did more for daily livability than any single finish.

  • What We'd Recommend To Other Homeowners

If you're investing in premium finishes, don't shortcut the framing and ceiling work behind them. Clean lines in the finished kitchen start with clean structure in the rough.
